The Secrets of Essential Oils

Essential Oils I used on my journey…

Glass dropper filled with herbal essence, aromatherapy oil, homeopathic medicine, or other liquid.

Sacred Frankincense:
Sacred frankincense essential oil comes from Boswellia sacra tree resin that is wild harvested and steam distilled at the Young Living farm in Salalah, Oman.

Sacred Frankincense is considered one of the most valued oils and is mentioned more than 20 times in the Bible.   The three wise men from the biblical account of the birth of Jesus came bearing special gifts. One of them, frankincense, possesses a value much more significant than just a fragrant incense. It demonstrates powerful anti-cancer effects that even in modern times legitimize this precious oil as being truly one of the most precious gifts.

The oil of frankincense has been used for thousands of years to quell disease-causing inflammation, support heightened immunity, and prevent dangerous infections. But many people remain unaware of the added cancer-fighting potential of this precious serum, which researchers from the University of Leicester in the UK (among others), have confirmed through rigorous scientific testing.

Also known as boswellia, frankincense contains a unique compound known as acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid, or AKBA for short. Scientific tests have determined that AKBA is a sworn enemy of cancer. With funding from the government of Oman, researchers from the University of Leicester were able to uncover how frankincense may be a safe and effective remedy for women who suffer from ovarian cancer – one of the leading causes of cancer in women.

Kamla Al-Salmani, lead author of the paper covering these findings and a PhD student at the University’s Cancer Studies and Molecular Medicine department, says:

“After a year of studying the AKBA compound with ovarian cancer cell lines in vitro, we have been able to show it is effective at killing cancer cells. Frankincense is taken by many people with no known side effects. This finding has enormous potential to be taken to a clinical trial in the future and developed into an additional treatment for ovarian cancer.”

The reason for this is that frankincense shows demonstrable effectiveness in a few areas where chemotherapy isn’t all that effective, particularly with regards to ovarian cancer. Commenting on the study’s findings, Dr. Mark Evans explained that certain cancer cell lines that don’t respond to chemotherapy are notably responsive to frankincense.

Originally from Taiwan and educated in the US, Dr. H K Lin (PhD) is an independent medical researcher and professor in the University of Oklahoma, who has published more than 70 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles to date.  From his years of research, Dr. Lin found that certain species of Frankincense essential oil in high quality causes cancer cell death, and does not damage healthy cells.

According to immunologist Mahmoud Suhail, frankincense exhibits power over our DNA code. He states “Cancer starts when the DNA code within the cell’s nucleus becomes corrupted. It seems frankincense has a re-set function. It can tell the cell what the right DNA code should be. Frankincense separates the ‘brain’ of the cancerous cell – the nucleus – from the ‘body’ – the cytoplasm, and closes down the nucleus to stop it reproducing corrupted DNA codes.

This oil is also ideal for those who wish to take their spiritual journey and meditation experiences to a higher level.

Lavender: blog oils

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has a scent that’s a wonderful blend of fresh, floral, clean, and calm. Lavender essential oil isn’t just a favorite because of its classic scent—it’s also highly versatile.  I placed a few drop of Lavender daily on my neck to help me relax, feel calm, sleep more deeply and to relieve stress.

Breathing in Lavender became a daily ritual for me.  For times when I had a mild headache, any kind of stress or restless nights, I would use Lavender.  I also often place lavender on my neck just before falling asleep.  It always helps me drift off to sleep in a calm, relaxed state and promotes deeper, restful sleep.

Note from Susan:  I never leave the house without Lavender.  It’s my favorite traveling companion.

Orange is naturally rich in d-limonene.  D-limonene is contained in the peels of citrus fruits such as grapefruit, tangerine, lemon and oranges.  Orange (Citrus sinensis) essential oil has a rich, citrus aroma that calms and relaxes the body and uplifts the mind. The oil may also support normal cellular regeneration.

The fragrance of all citrus oils are believed to induce relaxation and reduce feelings of occasional sadness. Orange essential oil can encourage positive emotions of peace, happiness, and well-being. Whenever I felt sick from various treatments, my husband would rub a few drops of orange essential oil on the bottom of my feet.  There are certain points on the bottom of your feet that are called Vita-Flex points.    Any ill feelings associated with treatment would be gone in 10 minutes or less.

Just add a drop to your water or diffuse orange essential oil for an emotional lift! Either way, orange oil is a welcome addition to your healing regimen, your home or work place!

PanAway  Essential Oil contains wintergreen essential oil, which is often used for massage. PanAway essential oil is wonderful for any and all discomfort related to the cancer journey.  Applying it to the vita flex points on the feet or a few drops over your wrist and breathing it in can take away any dis-stress.   PanAway can also be used topically after exercise and it supports the look of healthy skin coloration.

Note from Susan:  Early on in my cancer journey I had an abdominal tumor the size of a small melon.  It was pressing on the neighboring organs and nerve endings.  I used PanAway every night before bedtime to ease my discomfort.  I also used it before and after surgery to support feeling more comfortable and returning my body to perfect balance with grace and ease.
